Railway Reservations of Train ticket can be done 120 days in advance

Indian Railways has announced that now you can book your train tickets 120 days in advance. Although it would be in effect from 10th of March 2012. Currently it is allowed to book for only 90 days in advance. Due to increasing crowd and heavy ticket booking day by day, Indian railways thought that it would be good for travellers to book tickets in advance and get confirmed seats as there are several trains where you won’t get a good seat of your choice even if you book in 70 to 80 days in advance. A good example of those trains is the Gitanjali SuperFast Express which runs to and fro from Howrah to Mumbai. There Is waiting going on in all classes for even 90 days from now.

And to cope up with these kind of problems, 120 days of advance booking would be good. And its a good move by railways as the number of travellers is gonna increase in coming time which makes it tougher to get a seat in some good trains. These changes would be only for long distance travelling trains and not for shorter distance trains. The trains of shorter distance would have a ticket booking time of just 15 days as there is no such problem of ticket waiting in those trains. Even the railway budget would be available in March only so you could hope to get a new train in your city as well and some other major changes might be seen. And this rule of 120 days applies for both tickets booked online or offline via ticket counters.
